What is Floorboard Insulation (suspended floors)?

Floorboards that are suspended over joists are known as suspended floors. Since they are, in a sense, floating over a void, they are prone to lose more heat.

Insulate the floors from below if you have access through a cellar or basement. This method is the simplest and least disruptive.

If we cannot access the joists from below, then they must be insulated from the top. This is typically more disruptive because it entails lifting the floor to install insulation between the beams.
