Solar PV install process

Site survey

Access your energy needs

A site survey helps determine the property's suitability for the installation. We look at how much sunlight it gets, if there's any shading, and if the roof is suitable. We will discuss your energy goals and address any questions or concerns you may have.

DNO application

Your DNO

If the net generation capacity of the system is more than 3.68kW (per phase) then we must apply to the DNO for permission prior to the installation. This process can take anywhere between 10 days and 6 weeks - all dependent on the net generation capacity.

System design

Based on the site assessment and your energy needs, a customized solar PV system is designed. This includes determining the optimal placement and number of solar panels.

Access equipment

Scaffolding

We'll arrange for the scaffolding to be set up a day or two before the solar installation date, ensuring that the necessary support structures are prepared and ready for the smooth execution of the installation process by our team.

SEG

smart export guarantee

Once your solar PV system is installed and you have all the relevant documents and certificates, you will be able to apply for a Smart Export Guarantee. SEG is a government-backed initiative offering customers a financial incentive for generating their own electricity. 

Handover

MCS certificate

Once your solar PV system is installed and generating energy, we will formulate a comprehensive handover pack - this will include your MCS certificate and all other relevent documents for your record.

Commissioning 

your system

Once all the electrics have been installed, we will commission the system. We will also submit a commissioning document to your DNO, once we receive confirmation - You'll be in a position to apply for a SEG. 

Installation day

For solar PV

Once your solar PV system is installed and generating energy, we will formulate a comprehensive handover pack - this will include your MCS certificate and all other relevent documents for your record.

How long 

Does a solar panel installation take 

  • The duration of a solar installation varies depending on several factors, including the system's size, considerations from your Distribution Network Operator (DNO), and obtaining planning permission.

  • Once all necessary paperwork is finalized and scaffolding is in place, the actual installation process is typically quite swift. While most installations are completed within a single day, it's important to note that, in some cases, it may extend to up to three days due to logistical reasons. We aim to set clear expectations with our customers to ensure transparency throughout the process.
